Backyard Entertainment

We finally got to enjoy our backyard this past weekend by having a little cookout.  We had a bunch of our friends over to enjoy it with us - we had food, drinks, and some cornhole going on in the front yard.  I loved having everyone over and Hadleigh enjoyed being the center of attention!  She also enjoyed getting to play with her bff Lily.

Can this picture get a parent reported?! Nothing like a Miller Lite & UNC!
Actually this is the culprit behind Hadleigh ;)
Some of the guys were having fun playing cornhole

I told you Hadleigh was the center of attention didn't I?
Oh and this is Cody - he loves his picture to be taken. He doesn't wait for it to be taken, he ASKS for it to be taken...

We have such great friends to want to come over and celebrate our backyard finally being done! <3

Project Backyard

Daniel's been working super hard the last couple of months to get the backyard looking great.  He's really good at visualizing exactly he wants and the result actually looking amazing.  I can't take much credit at all (well except for a few trinkets we have in the yard now - that I shopped for of course).  It wouldn't be easy on the eyes unless I showed you some before pictures.

This is a good picture of how crappy our grass dirt was.

The raised flower bed was an addition to the yard Daniel and his friend Cody put in.
Progress....sod is 1/2 way laid

Then we had our friend Brian come by and help us figure out what types of plants would work best in the raised flower bed.  He's an awesome landscaper who works at Colesville Nursery, but he also has a fresh cut flower business on his own.  Here's his beautiful work:

Daniel's small flower beds at the bottom of the steps coming out of the back door.

I found these lanterns at Ben Franklin for a whopping $0.89!
Daniel added planters under the windows of his shed

Now we can actually entertain in the backyard without feeling embarrassed by the look of it!

Visit with Kara and Easton!

Hadleigh and I took dinner over to Jen, Brandon, Kara, and Easton this past weekend.  I was able to meet baby Easton the day after he was born, but I loved getting to see him a week later as well.  Jen looks awesome after only a week, and Kara loves her baby brother.  Kara was so sweet to Hadleigh while we were there - bringing her a BUNCH of toys to play with.  When I asked Kara if she was going to play with them to, she bluntly said "no". haha
Here's pictures of the new addition Easton Stephen Bowles

Kara loved looking at the pictures I took of her - she has a good cheeser!

Hadleigh & Kara playing the piano together :)
No pictures of Jen and I :(  Maybe next time! I love the Bowles family!!

Visit with Lily!

Kristy and Lily came to visit last weekend to play in the new pool! Now that Hadleigh can crawl, it's beginning to be a lot more fun to get the girls together and play.  Lily seemed to enjoy the pool a lot more than Hadleigh - I think Hadleigh was starting to get pretty tired since she hadn't napped well earlier in the day. (We went to the Strawberry Fair in Ashland that morning).
Hadleigh's Strawberry Faire outfit :)

We decided to feed both girls their dinner, so they each got to try a little bit of the other's meal :)  After dinner and the pool we both gave the girls their first bath together which I'm so mad I didn't get any pictures!!  Once they were all clean, they crawled and walked and played with each other on the floor for a little bit before Kristy & Lily had to head back home.

We always enjoy having them over [and you know....forcing   hoping Lily & Hadleigh to be BFF's like their mommas ;)]

Pool Fun!

It's been getting pretty hot here in Richmond, so Daniel and I decided to get Hadleigh a pool for the backyard.  It's something Hadleigh can enjoy on the weekends with us, plus during the week with Nana.

We go to Target thinking we're going to get this small pool that is just a circle. Yeah...nope! Hadleigh is one spoiled little girl!

In the back we have a blue dinosaur with his mouth open for a game of ball toss.  The pool came with 5 balls I think.  Then to the left of the picture we have an inflatable slide. To the right we have a canopy that has blue streamers coming down to make it look like a waterfall.  Beside that is a palm tree that squirts water out of the middle.  I said spoiled...didn't I?
