We're in double digits! ahhhhhhh! It's crazy to think in 2 months she will be a year old and well on her way to being a "toddler" :( We're having fun along the way - learning as we go - here's her update this month:
Sleep stays pretty consistent. During the day, Nana sometimes has trouble getting her to nap. One day she can do really well and have 2 decent naps and other days it's a cat nap here and there. For us, she usually will go to sleep anywhere between 7-9pm. Some nights she goes down easy, and some nights it's not on the top of her list. Her stomach is the most comfortable position for her now and she loves to move herself into the very top corner of her crib. I don't know if she likes the darkness of being in the corner with the bumper on the sides of her face or what. Whatever works! If she wakes up during the middle of the night (which is usually in the morning not too far from when I wake up), I just bring her in the bed with us. She goes right back to sleep and we get to cuddle. {yes, I know some parents are cringing at the previous statement, but i love it!}
Hadleigh officially has 4 teeth! It's so darn cute! The top two teeth seem to be coming in with a gap, which is a Harris trait (imagine that?!). But she'll lose these, so we will see if her permanent teeth come in that way as well. She grinds her top teeth with her bottom teeth ALL the time. Every time I hear it, I get her to stop, but it's right back at it. Horrible! Crossing my fingers she grows out of it.
A fast crawler is what we have on our hands now! She's so fast! She still walks along furniture and gets into anything and everything possible. Especially the things we don't particularly want her to get into ;) she's still not confident enough with herself to start walking. She has really good balance and she can stand along for a few seconds, but nothing more than that as of right now.
As far as food goes, she's starting to eat more table food but she still loves her formula in a bottle. She's getting on this kick (within the past week) where she will only eat a good lunch with some baby food. She won't be interested in breakfast or even dinner. So I've been subbing with a bottle if I can't get her to eat some table food. I really need to start just giving her anything and everything cut up small, but I'm still only really giving her soft things. This is such an awkward stage for food cause you have the formula, table food, and then baby food.
Her language is expanding every day. Although we might not know what she's saying most of the time, she has new sounds every week. She definitely "talks" as if she's trying to put full sentences together, so we just talk to her as if we know what she's saying. her main words are mama, dada, red, ba (ball), and baby. She says baby all day long. All of the words aren't used 100% in the right context, but she's saying them!
Hadleigh's personality is getting so fun. Here's a list of things she does - and I love it all!
- Laughs at anything and everything when she's really tired
- Scrunches her little nose and breaths really fast out of her nose while scrunching it.
- Talks and makes all kinds of noises while she's playing
- Gets mad when you pull her away from something she really likes playing with
- When she starts to get tired, she will sometimes stop in midst crawl, lay her head on the floor for a second, and then start crawling again
- Still absolutely LOVES the wind in her hair - she laughs and screams in excitement
- Gets frustrated when she sees I'm making a bottle for her and I'm not making it quick enough. She doesn't give me enough time to make it and then give it to her before she's whining. funny.
- Sticks her tongue out when she's making noises sometimes
